Online tool lets your guests pick music with their smartphone - cool!

If you have ever had a party or an event where you played some music, then you probably had the experience of people asking for songs to be played, or going behind your computer to select the songs they like. Today software developer Emile Nijssen has released Protube  2.1 which makes that experience better and easier.

It's incredibly easy and will enhance your party for sure. Simply going to a website will set it up, and all your guests need to do is scanning a QR code (use e.g. Google Goggles)  to get an interface to search and add songs to the public playlist. An administration interface gives you full control over the music added to the queue.

Two links will appear, a public screen URL, which you can open on your computer screen / beamer, and one for a private screen where you can administrate any added videos. The public screen looks like this with a QR code on the right which users can scan with their mobile phone.

If you go to his website on a public screen it will list a QR code for your guests which they can scan with their mobile phone. This will open a screen where they can search for their favorite artist and add it the queue.

Once the song are clicked, they are added to the public queue and playback will start. In the administration interface you can skip to the next song, pause the queue and remove songs from the queue. It's also possible to limit the duration of each video that can be added  and tracks can be drag and dropped to change the order in which they are played.

Let us know if you like this tool, and don't forget to Tweet or Like! And if you want to try it out, add some songs to the Myce Public Music Screen.
