A Chinese website has leaked screenshots of Microsoft’s upcoming browser for Windows 10, Spartan. The screenshots were posted by the website ITHome show a favorites menu, a reading list and reading mode for long articles and PDFs. The features were no secret, they were all already previewed in Microsoft’s Windows 10 event in January this year.
The Project Spartan browser will likely replace Internet Explorer as the default browser in Windows 10, while the latter remains to be part of Microsoft’s upcoming operating system for “legacy reasons”. Spartan will also have Cortana integration and the ability to annotate web pages, among other features.
The screenshots were leaked by a Microsoft partner which has access to build 10009 of Windows 10 Technical Preview. The same partner also leaked images showing new icons of the Windows 10 Control Panel and Recycle Bin.
