Corsair announces budget SSDs – with Silicon motion controller

Corsair today announced the release of the Force Series LX solid-state drives (SSD). The drives are available in capacities of either 256GB or 128GB capacities. Costing $129.99 for the 256GB drive and  $74.99 for the 128GB drive, Corsair targets the drives as a cheap way to upgrade your system. With nearly $0.50 per GB for the 256GB drive they are certainly in the cheaper end of the market.

The drives are powered by a Silicon Motion SSD controller and use a SATA 3 interface. Corsair claims file transfer speeds of up to 560MB/sec read and 300MB/sec write performance.

The drives have a slim-line 7mm aluminum housing and are bundled with Corsair’s SSD Toolbox software utility. TRIM, NCQ and S.M.A.R.T.  technologies automatically maintain drive performance for years to come, and Corsair tops off the package with a 3 year warranty and legendary customer service for total peace of mind.

The Force Series LX SSDs are available in 128GB and 256GB capacities at MSRPs of $74.99 and $129.99. The SSDs are available immediately from Corsair’s worldwide network of authorized retailers and are backed with a three year warranty and Corsair customer service and technical support.
