Microsoft will release feature updates for Windows 10 twice a year, in March and September. The company hopes that a predictable roadmap makes it easier for enterprises to switch to its latest operating system. With the Creator Update released in April, the company is a bit behind on schedule, but the upcoming Redstone 3 update is nevertheless planned for September this year.
The update cycle of Windows 10 will coincide with that of Office 365 Pro Plus and also also that of the System Center Configuration Manager, Microsoft writes on its blog. Each feature release will be supported for 18 months.
The predictable timing of updates should make updates more manageable and predictable for easier enterprise deployments.
The upcoming feature update, codenamed Redstone 3 is planned for September this year. This update will bring changes to the Windows GUI under the name Project Neon, it will also add x86 emulation on ARM systems and Power Throttling.
