'Microsoft plans to add support for running Android apps in Windows'

Microsoft is planning to add Android support in Windows 8 and Windows Phone, according to a report by TheVerge. The software company would plan a feature that allows running Android apps on its latest desktop and mobile operating systems. While that might be a radical move, TheVerge claims it has heard it from 'sources familiar to the site'.

Also smartphone developer Blackberry resorted to this in their latest OS, but it wasn't enough to bring back the large numbers of phones the company sold before.

The love for Android isn't new to the software giant from Redmond. It's new subsidiary Nokia is also planning to release an Android phone. Also Intel and AMD are trying to get their share from Android. They are working with the company BlueStacks that allows running Android applications on Windows. According to TheVerge, it's even Intel that is pushing Microsoft to add support for Android apps to Windows 8.
