The website of AnyDVD developer Slysoft is down for legal reasons. The site went down yesterday which means users can no longer download and purchase the software. The forums are currently still up, where the downtime of the company is also discussed.
Slysoft has been pretty silent on its downtime, but moderator SlyFox1 posted on the company's forum, "No, worries, all will be sorted."
Legal issues are nothing new to the company and likely expected by the people running it. Slysoft develops software that is able to circumvent copy protections found on CD, DVD and Blu-ray discs and is therefore a target for organisations like the AACS-LA. This license body for the "Advanced Access Content System Licensing Administrator", develops the copy protection found on Blu-ray discs and also tried to shutdown Chinese Slysoft competitor DVDFab.
Slysoft also came up in documents leaked by Wikileaks which showed that the AACS-LA aims to shut down the company located on Antiqua. So far this has been unsuccessful because Antiguan laws allowed the company to continue to exist.
