Xiaomi Introduces CyberDog Quadrupedal Robot

Xiaomi, a multinational electronics company, has launched CyberDog, a new quadrupedal robot that also indicates the company's entry into the 4-legged robotics market. Xiaomi has produced 1,000 CyberDogs as part of the launch. A robot will cost 10,000 yuan.

CyberDog is the most recent robot to use the quadrupedal form style in the market. The company claims that CyberDog can do a variety of high-speed maneuvers up to 3.2 meters per second, as well as complex moves like backflips.

Xiaomi's "in-house developed servo motors," Jetson Xavier NX platform by Nvidia, and 11 sensors power the new robot’s movements. AI interactive cameras, touch and ultrasonic sensors, GPS and depth modules, and ultra-wide fisheye cameras are among the 11 sensors in the new robot, according to Xiaomi.

Moreover, the robot may be operated via a smartphone app, and it can respond to voice commands, such as wake directions.

As per the company, by using computer vision algorithms, the camera sensors have been trained to enable automated tracking of objects, mapping and localization simultaneously, and navigation and obstacle avoidance.

Besides, CyberDog also has 1 HDMI port and 3 Type-C connectors, according to Xiaomi. They were included to make it easier for developers to incorporate software and hardware systems into the machine.

Because the quadrupedal robot is open-source, Xiaomi claims that panoramic cameras, searchlights, and lidar sensors, may be added by users to expand the CyberDog's capabilities.

However, the company has not stated if it would share code with the robot owners. Xiaomi just said that the robot is "built on open source algorithms."

Spot by Boston Dynamics has been released commercially last year and is the most popular robot in the industry now. It is already being used to assist healthcare personnel in triaging patients remotely and to educate people about physical distancing in parks.

Additionally, Xiaomi also introduced its new smartphone, the Xiaomi Mix 4, the same day. The newest Mi Mix 4 smartphone features a full-screen display that is 6.67-inch, 1080p, 120Hz, with an OLED curved panel.

There is a 400ppi space surrounding the camera that enables light to pass through, which Xiaomi calls Camera Under Panel technology. The battery supports 120W wired and 50W wireless fast charging. Thus, the phone with being 100% charged in 28 minutes and 45 minutes.

The Xiaomi Mix 4 is now only sold in China. The smartphone's prices range from 5,000 yuan to 6,300 yuan.
