The news comes from the Japanese business paper Nikkei which bases itself on anonymous sources. Toshiba wants to sell its NAND division to make up for the bankruptcy of its nuclear branch.
Toshiba is the second largest NAND manufacturer after Samsung. Yesterday we reported that about 10 other companies were interested in acquiring Toshiba's NAND manufacturing unit.
It's unclear whether Toshiba plans to sell its entire chip division or only a majority stake. Yesterday the company's shareholder approved the split off in a 3.5 hour long emotional meeting.
