Email Service Click2Mail Confirms Data Breach

Click2Mail, a famous SaaS print-to-mail service, has issued a statement to customers informing them of a massive data breach that may have leaked the personal information of about 200,000 Click2Mail.com registrants.

In an email sent to online news website DataBreaches.net, president and CEO of Click2Mail, Lee Garvey, disclosed that the company learned about the data breach on Friday, October 4.

According to the announcement, personal information of registered Click2Mail users may have potentially been compromised. This includes their name, organization, account mailing address, email address, and phone number.

“On October 4th, 2019 it was discovered that registered Click2Mail users’ names and email addresses were being used by unknown parties to send multiple spam emails. Technical analysis of our systems detected an intrusion point that was closed that same day. Importantly, Click2Mail does not store any credit card data on our systems,” the email wrote.

Click2Mail Confirms Data Breach

News about the breach was initially reported by a former customer of Click2Mail to DataBreaches.net on October 4, the same date the email service company learned about the security incident. In the report, DataBreaches.net said they were contacted by a former customer of Click2Mail who claimed that the popular email service provider “may have been hacked, sprung a leak, or shared their data with some firm that hadn’t protected it properly.”

According to the account of the customer, his email address for Postful-Click2Mail received a message dated Oct 4, specifying his name and the city he lives at.

To date, a professional cybersecurity firm is working to review and analyze Click2Mail’s IT systems and security protocols to avoid the same incident from happening again.

“Our goal is to assure that our systems are as secure as possible to protect your personal information and mailing data.  As always, we recommend you do not respond to any suspicious emails or click on any active links contained in messages sent by unknown senders,” Click2Mail’s email to customers read.

“We are keenly aware of how important your personal information is to you. We regret that this situation has occurred and sincerely apologize. Click2Mail is committed to providing quality mailing services, including the protection of your personal information, and we want to assure you that we have strict policies and procedures to protect your privacy,” it continued.

According to DataBreaches.net, slightly over 200,000, Click2Mail registered users are expected to receive the notification in segments.
