Gscreen intros dual screen laptop

U.S.-based Gscreen Computers announced plans to launch a new laptop that has two LED backlit screens that are able to slide behind one another.

The default Gscreen Computer "Spacebook" laptop setup includes an Intel Core 2 Duo 2.26GHz P8400, 4GB RAM, with a 320GB HDD, and an NVIDIA Quadro FX 1700M or NVIDIA GeForce 9800M GT GPU.  Each laptop has dual 15.4-inch screens that help provide a powerful work machine aimed at multi-tasking and other functions.

The Spacebook should be available in time for Christmas, with an estimated price of $3,000, though the price could change depending on the cost of solid state drives -- a possible feature in the future.spacebookAlthough the laptop has solid hardware and two screens, it's obvious weight and battery power are two concerns.  The weight of the laptop, which is unknown at the moment, includes a 9-cell battery. The power demands of the dual screens will be noticeable.

"We designed this knowing that many may not need the extra screen at all times," according to Gordon Stewart, gScreen founder.

I'm not really sure what I think of these dual screen laptops.  I fully believe my work efficiency would increase, but the inability to easily transport the laptop to multiple locations -- and a lower battery life -- seems disappointing.  Then again, analysts predict a growing number of users will purchase laptops for home or business use without the intention of frequently moving.

Are you interested in a dual screen laptop, or will the larger weight and lower battery life prove too much?
