MSI launches new ultraportable device

MSI has launched a new ultraportable notebook that has good hardware specifications, offering consumers another interesting choice when looking for a thinbook.

The MSI X600 is a thin-and light ultra-low voltage notebook that has a 15.6-inch screen, Intel 1.4GHz SU3500 ULV processor, 4GB DDR2 RAM, ATI HD 4330 GPU, 320GB HDD, 6-cell-battery, and a built-in 1.3-megapixel web camera.  The ATI GPU is an interesting choice since it should yield significantly stronger performance than Intel's integrated technology.  The X600 is less than an inch thin and weighs 5.5 pounds, and ships with an external DVD/CD drive.msi-x600-01

Most netbooks are unique because they don't have internal DVD drives, so it's an interesting move MSI is offering the MSI X600 with an external DVD/CD drive.

It'll be interesting to see if consumers are willing to purchase the device since it's just a single-core ULV, and weighs a whopping 5.5 pounds.  I believe 5.5 pounds may be a bit heavier than some consumers want, but it still has fairly solid hardware specifications.  However, MSI is known for releasing solid products that often fly under the radar, though its notebooks and all-in-one PCs are beginning to gain more attention.

The MSI X600 ultraportable notebook is now available online through Amazon and other retailers, with an $899.99 MSRP.

Would you be interested in purchasing the MSI X600 thinbook, or is the 5.5 pound weight or $899.99 price tag too high for you?
