SuperTalent USB 3.0 DRAM stick can write up to 5388 MB/s

SuperTalent has announced their DRAM Disk USB 3.0 stick which should enable your computer to read data up to 4GB/s. Although the name implies there is DRAM inside, the USB stick is nothing more than a regular flash drive. The special part of the drive is the software that comes with it, which uses your computer's memory to speed up read and write operations.

The manufacturer promises sequential write speeds of up to 5GB/s while reads are specified up to 4GB/s. The DRAM Disk is mainly targeted at 'creative professionals' that can use their performance demanding software from their USB stick and should achieve speeds that should even exceed those of SSDs. Another advantage for this target audience is that many of their systems already have lots of RAM which means there is sufficient space for the SuperTalent software.

The company has not disclosed any information on pricing and availability of the SuperTalent USB 3.0 DRAM Disk.
