US-CERT: Remove QuickTime for Windows ASAP

Windows users are advised to remove Apple's QuickTime software from their computer. It is no longer updated and contains vulnerabilities that can be exploited by cybercriminals. The advice comes from US-CERT, the American government agency that monitors internet security.quicktime-logoThe agency decided to publish the advice after a security researcher from Trend Micro found two new vulnerabilities in QuickTime for Windows. The vulnerabilities are not abused yet.  Because the information is now out in the open it's very likely they will be exploited in the near future.

Apple no longer releases updates for QuickTime for Windows, which could be used to playback music and video. The company continues to release updates for QuickTime for OS X.
