Netflix has launched a new support site and database for flummoxed subscribers who keep seeing that same annoying error code or can't seem to figure out how to link accounts to a smartphone.
The new support site is straightforward enough, Netflix claims. Type in an error code or keyword, hit "search" and then follow the presented results to what's hopefully an accurate, helpful answer. It's a lot like a plain old Google search, which, ironically, the company also recommends using. The search engine will deliver the very same support site links to help members around roadblocks.
Vice President of IT Operations Mike Kail says Netflix will continuously update the database to address any future problems and ensure users are seeing the most up-to-date information. Additionally, a feedback system will eventually be introduced so folks can let the company know whether or not the support site was actually helpful.
Speaking of support, new rumors suggest the streaming giant's push into the realm of exclusive programming could give Fox's "Terra Nova" a second wind. The prehistoric sci-fi show was recently canned after just a single season.
Earlier this year, news broke that Netflix would air brand-new episodes of critical-darling "Arrested Development," which unceremoniously ended in the middle of its third season thanks to poor ratings. The company has already debuted its first original series, "Lilyhammer," starring "The Sopranos" alum Steven Van Zandt. Several other projects are underway, including David Fincher's remake of the British drama mini-series "House of Cards."
Just in case Netflix is taking suggestions for others shows to bring back from the grave, here's mine: "Stargate Universe."
