At the beginning of this week a new mysterious company with a new mysterious software popped up, Arusoft with DeUHD. The company claimed that its software would be able to copy Ultra HD Blu-ray discs. In a statement to us, the company even stated that it considered AACS 2.0 to be cracked.
With a license of €200 ($235) there weren't many people who wanted to test and potentially lose their money. Therefore, the company handed out 5 licenses to randomly selected users and the first results are in.
To be eligible for becoming a tester, each user had to show a screenshot of their Windows Device Manager to show they owned a Blu-ray drive compatible with DeUHD and a picture of an Ultra HD Blu-ray movie they owned. Also to make sure they made a backup of a movie they already bought.
After they proved that, Arusoft provided them with a free license for their software and results had to be posted on DeUHD Forum.
User reviews
The first who posted was ccutrer. He already tested with the trial, and he was up for a test with a full license. He reported:
I'm happy to report that I have the LG WH16NS40 NS50 drive, and it works just fine. In addition, I can play the decrypted disk directly in PowerDVD 17, even though my drive is not technically supported, and my monitor is not HDCP 2.2 (or HDR, or even 4k).

User colinhunt2017 wrote an extensive review about his experience with DeUHD as well. After a lot of experimenting he made DeUHD work for him.
After quite a bit of experimentation I can say the rip was a complete success. Egreat A10 plays the rip from a NAS over a gigabit LAN, even though it's once again unable to display disc menu. Choosing Main Movie instead of Navigation leads to A10 spending half a minute in a "Loading..." screen after which the movie starts playing, and triggers display's HDR mode.
Mkvtoolnix took more than half an hour to make an .mkv of the movie. The resulting file, placed on a USB stick, plays without issues, in HDR, on a 2016 Samsung HDR 4K TV using its own media player app.

i can also confirm the software DEUHD Rips and REMOVES AACS 2.0 from 4K UHD Blurays as i "Ripped" The Martian, Passengers, The Fate of the Furious and Sully 4K UHD Blurays Sucessfully with NO Problems, now waiting on them to update there server so i can "Rip" more 4k uhd blurays :), NO Intel SGX Needed!!

Tried iso with PowerDVD, regularly runs full menu, navigation commands, and scene choices, HDR works regularly at the beginning of the movie on the display.

Hello. As expected, it took ~5 hours for the disc to rip. Not ideal but I'm sure it'll improve one way or another in the future. Does the rip work? Apparently so. I've been having some issues but they may be related to the fact that this is a trial rip. Here's what I saw.

Does DeUHD work or not?
Based on the user experiences that were posted on our forum, we would say that the software certainly seems to be able to copy Ultra HD Blu-ray movies. It's recommendable to first try the free trial (.EXE file, 12MB) to see if it works with your system, before you make a purchase. Also be sure to read our DeUHD FAQ.
Is AACS 2.0 really cracked?
So while DeUHD indeed seems to copy Ultra HD Blu-ray discs, the question remains whether AACS 2.0 is really cracked? Probably not really. The fact that there is a list of supported movies, likely means that Arusoft has found a way to obtain license keys per movie. If AACS 2.0 would be cracked, their software would likely work on all movies. But it does seem there is a crack in AACS 2.0 that is exploited by DeUHD and it's up to each individual to decide whether that's worth €199 /$235 for a license.
