We at CDFreaks would like to present an article over the 'new" LightScribe Color Media. In this article we will take a look at the 5 different available colours (Blue, Green, Yellow, Orange and Red), and of course show you the results we got on them.

Introduction:

The following text is taken from the Philips website:

A quick and colorful way to customize your media

Next to improved labeling speed and sharper burned images, you can now color up your discs with the new LightScribe Color recordable media. You can choose among 5 new colors: blue, green, red, yellow and orange and make your discs unforgettable. Quickly burn your data, flip the disc and create a unique label; there's nothing to it! All you need is the LightScribe Media, a LightScribe drive and the Nero burning software. Perfect for personalizing content, the Philips LightScribe discs provide users with a way to store information in a stylish and sophisticated design. For optimal results, Philips recommends the use of Philips LightScribe DVD rewriters.

If we take a closer look at the inner ring of the LightScribe media we can see a bar code indexing system, which the drive use to recognize the LightScribe surface and to read the manufacturer but also for the indexing (for later re-burns).

Let us also take a look at the manufacturer of the Data-Side of the CD-R media:

As we can see the CD-R media is made by Moser Baer.
