BSA searches for pirated software in Ireland

BSA Ireland will conduct its first ever annual software audit amongst directors of Irish businesses this month. This will be one of the most widespread reviews of software use and compliance undertaken in Ireland.

Julian McMenamin, BSA Ireland's chairman, said, 'The use of illegal software blights the software industry and costs Ireland valuable jobs and tax revenues. This is not an issue confined to use within any one industry sector. Apparently well run and thriving businesses are finding that they have inadequate management control of their software assets, risking both legal penalties for breaking copyright laws and embarrassment when those penalties attract publicity."

So if you run a buisness in Ireland, make sure you have the right licenses for your software.
In Ireland they again use tactics lot's of people won't approve:

Julian McMenamin continues, 'We understand how easy it is to let software management slip. Therefore, we will be offering company directors advice on how to minimise the risk that this problem poses to their business. However, having done this, we will also be appealing through the media for people to come forward and provide use with details of software mis-users. People that provide information that leads to a successful action will be offered a reward of £5,000*."

So, tell the BSA your boss uses pirated software and receive money from them.
