Bad start for Blu-ray

Research firm Cymfony Inc. has released its recent findings on research they have done of online discussion regarding Sony's blu-ray format.

The report analysed some 17,600 posts on forums as well as 323 blogs and other social media and found some interesting facts. Positive comments for the HD-DVD format were 46% more than for blu-ray.

In fact most of the posts regarding blu-ray were negative with such reasons as PS3 issues, format war and a general dislike for the format.

"A significant segment of the audience expressed a "general dislike" for Blu-ray, often based on doubt regarding Sony's credibility as an innovator, given its failures with Betamax and the MiniDisc. They also questioned Sony's chances of succeeding with the new platform.

Posters resented having the Blu-ray player forced on them through PS3, Cymfony said. Microsoft, on the other hand, was praised for offering an HD DVD player as an option to the Xbox 360."
