Big Champagne survey says: P2P Usage Grows by 30%!

DamnedIfIknow used our news submit to tell us "The entertainment industry claims its relentless legal campaigns have significantly cut back on the numbers of people sharing online." - NOT!!!!" This is really hard to believe but, I suppose once the cat is out of the bag, that the darn thing wont be easy to lure back inside! Here is a snippet from the article that can be read over at P2P.net.

Below are Big Champagne statistics showing the number of people simultaneously logged on to p2p file sharing networks between August, 2004, and November, 2004.

We can also read in the article that statistics from p2p research company Big Champagne says p2p networks are growing faster in Europe and Canada than anywhere else. What's going on you might wonder? What is being traded? Big Champagne says video and software make up more than 35% of files shared. Not only that, they say that the percentage just keeps growing.

Possibly it's about time for the copyright holders to quit clogging the courts with these endless lawsuits and to stop worrying about it and go on. Apparently, the p2p society has reached critical mass and cannot be stopped. Or possibly they need to come up with a new strategy and let these materials be traded legally at a very low cost. How can this activity be stemmed in a world without borders and uniform laws?  Don't forget to stop by the Music Downloads, Peer-to-Peer (P2P) & Legal Issues Forum in order to stay abreast of the situation or share news with others.
