CD Freaks presents the Lite-On LH-2B1S Blu-ray triple writer review

CD Freaks is proud to present another Blu-ray writer review, this time the Lite-On LH-2B1S Blu-ray Disc, Lite-On's first drive with Blu-ray technology.  Lite-On is a well known optical disc drive manufacturer and has become the second largest ODD manufacturer, producing no less than 5 million drives per month in 2005.  This Blu-ray drive features up to 2x BD-R (4x BD-R single layer with an upcoming firmware update), 2x BD-RE and 1x BD-R/RE Dual Layer (50GB) Blu-ray write performance.  The drive connects using a Serial ATA interface.  Other features include SMART-BURN and 12x DVD±R, 6x/8x DVD+R/DVD-RW and 4x DVD±R DL write support for 8cm and 12cm media.

The drive comes bundled with Cyperlink's Blu-ray Disc solution software suite consisting of PowerDVD, Power Producer, Power2Go, PowerBackup, InstantBurn and Cyberlink BD/HD Advisor.  To help one get started, the retail bundle also includes a TDK BD-RE Blu-ray disc, a quick installation guide, mounting screws and a Serial ATA cable.  The front of the drive features three LEDs to indicate the type disc loaded - two green LEDs for CD & DVD and a blue LED for Blu-ray media.

Our review coordinator EMEA Jan has carried out this in-depth review covering read, write and disc quality tests on CD-R/RW, DVD±R/RW/R DL and BD-R/RE media.  To see how this drive performs, please head over to the review here.  If you have any questions or comments about the review, feel free to discuss them in this forum thread.
