CD Freaks reviews: NU HDW-164 external DVD-writer

Jan70 has
finished another review. This time he took a look at the NU-Tech HDW-164. This
is an external DVD recorder able to write DVD-R and DVD+R discs at 16x. DVD+RW
and DVD-RW discs are written at a maximum of 4x and also double layer media
at 4x is possible. The drive connects to your PC using an USB2.0 interface. Of
course we did our usual extensive testing and finally we were able to sum up all
of it's negative and positive points. Here is a part of the conclusion to get
you started.

Part of conclusion:

The first point we would like to mention
is the DVD±R/+R9 writing support at
16x/4x, even though that is more like a standard nowadays. The drive can
also burn DVD
±R/+R9 DL media at higher
speed than certified. Next point '“ the writing quality on CD-R's are
excellent. The media support and compatibility on
DVD±R is very good, but there
is some room for improvement on the quality.
DVD+R/R9 DL/RW media will be
burned with the booktype DVD-ROM, which is an advantage concerning
compatibility on i.e., DVD Standalone
devices

If the drive has some serious drawbacks or if you want
to read more about it's performance then be sure to read the entire
review
