Circuit City back from the dead?

A new version of CircuitCity.com has been posted for customers to shop from now that Systemax has officially purchased the defunct company's online business.

"This acquisition and quick launch of the all new CircuitCity.com further solidifies Systemax's position as a leader in online retailing of value-priced, branded computers and consumer electronics," Systemax CEO Richard Leeds said in a statement.  "Circuit City is one of the iconic brands in U.S. electronics retailing with a 60-year legacy."

The store officially closed its doors in early March, but its online business was still up for grabs.

Systemax bought CompUSA last year and already owns TigerDirect.com, so an acquisition of Circuit City's online business really shouldn't surprise anyone.  The company completed its $14 million USD acquisition of Circuit City online earlier in the month, and promised it would offer a new web site as soon as possible.

The new site offers consumer products ranging from smartphones, TVs, monitors, routers, digital cameras, and other products the original web site offered.  Systemax is promising lower prices and 24/7 customer service to try and convince shoppers to again visit the site.

Leeds' letter also promises a wider selection and better customer service than the previous CircuitCity web site.

Since most people think of Circuit City already being dead, I'm not sure how effective it will be to have CircuitCity.com still online.

Even though the brick and mortar business is dead, are you willing to shop online at CircuitCity.com?
