CyberLink supports AVCHD Format for video editing, disc authoring and playback applications

CyberLink today announced support for the Advanced Video Codec High Definition Standard (AVCHD) across its complete range of leading consumer software products.

AVCHD is based on the MPEG-4 AVC (H.264) video format, enabling recording of High Definition 1080i and 720p video onto discs. With faster seek times for accessing content compared with miniDVD, and offering higher compression requiring less storage space than MPEG-2, the format is regarded as superior choice for consumers in the expanding high-definition camcorder market.

The following CyberLink products support the AVCHD format:

  • CyberLink PowerDVD enables the playback of AVCHD content
  • CyberLink PowerDirector supports importing and conversion of AVCHD files from disc, flash storage devices, and hard drives
  • CyberLink PowerProducer supports the authoring of AVCHD content to DVDs, for playback via PowerDVD or a Sony PS3.
