Elite Torrent site appears shut down by US authorities

Forum member LastStand let's us know in the Music Download, Peer to Peer (P2P) & Legal Issues Forum, that the Elite Torrents main page has been taken over by what appears to be US authorities. If you have a pair of sunglasses handy you might want to take a gander at the new layout over there. But be warned, it's a bit garish.

BitTorrent tracker sites have been under the gun lately in an attempt by authorites to stem the flow of pirated copyrighted works. However, this is the most graphic example of a site being taken down I have seen so far. Complete with a little legal lesson at the bottom in a contrasting black and yellow bold motif we can read:

"It is unlawful to reproduce or distribute copyrighted
material such as movies, music, software or games, without authorization- even
when done for free over the Internet. Individuals who willfully distribute or
download copyrighted material risk criminal prosecution under u.s.c. 2319. First
time ofenders convicted of criminal felony copyright laws will face up to five
years in federal prison, restitution, forfeiture and a fine."

Well, that's not so bad! Especially if you can take your MP3 player to the pen with you. If you would like to discuss this matter further, feel free to leave your comments here or over in the P2P Forum.
