Hi Definition and wireless technology

Seven firms including LG, Panasonic, NEC, Samsung, SiBeam, Sony and Toshiba, are developing a new standard to use wireless technology with Hi Definition hardware.

Wireless technology could be a good solution to get rid of all cables on Home Theaters systems. According the article posted at ITP Technology:

The first iteration of the standard will offer bandwidth of between 2Gbits/sec and 5Gbits/sec, though the core technology allows for a theoretical maximum of up to 20Gbits/sec.

This new WiHD standard, still under development, should be compatible with already existing wireless standards. I hope that this time all firms will be able to develop a unique standard, and not another "war" like Blu-ray vs HD-DVD 😉
