Hulu now offers ABC content

After publicly announcing a deal last April in which ABC content would be made available through online movie site Hulu, viewers now have the ability to watch Grey's Anatomy and other hit ABC shows.

"Today marks the official start of a new relationship: the launch of ABC content on Hulu," a blog post on the Hulu site says.  "Things kick off with five episodes of Grey's Anatomy, the primetime drama set at Seattle Grace Hospital, where surgical interns try to navigate the challenges of romance and friendship as they scrub in for complicated medical cases."

The show's episodes available on Hulu will mirror recently shown episodes on broadcast TV, Hulu and ABC said.  ABC will then roll out other content on the site throughout the rest of this week.  Both Hulu and ABC didn't say which shows will next appear on the site.

Some writers still aren't convinced about the move, with Technologizer's Ed Oswald saying he'll still pass on ABC content on Hulu.  Furthermore, because of the "content usage policies" from Hulu, he will continue to avoid using the popular video site.

The popularity of Hulu has led some content providers -- who traditionally don't want their content shown online unless it's on their own site -- to agree to work with Hulu.

Since many cable TV operators offer some type of on-demand service, it seems like charging $0.99 for an episode may end up being a thing of the past.  I appreciate the channels that show free content, and hope to find TV episodes that are currently available for $0.99 per episode online for free.
