Hulu will stream Dave Matthews Band live concert

Popular video site Hulu.com has announced plans to stream a Dave Matthews Band live concert directly to fans with a scheduled June 1 showing of the concert in New York.

The show will also be airing on the cable music channel Fuse, but this is a giant step forward for a video site that has continued to increase in popularity due to support from NBC, News Corporation, Disney, and others.

Hulu is best known for full-length movies and popular TV episodes, but this is one of the first times a concert will be streamed live through the site.  As some of you may remember, Hulu streamed President Barack Obama's inauguration a few months ago, but this will be the first concert streamed through the site.

The June 1 concert begins at 9 p.m. EST on Hulu, and is one day before the band's "Big Whiskey and the GrooGrux King" album release.

The concert will eventually be available on Hulu as a regular on-demand video for viewers to watch at their leisure.

Providing live streaming content that can't be easily viewed otherwise is a very smart move for expanding the sites' popularity.  Assuming they have enough bandwidth to support all of the viewers, it only makes sense for Hulu to begin offering live streams of concerts and other high-profile exclusives.
