Microsoft brings us something that could be even better then MP3 !
Microsoft out with Windows Media 8. Microsoft has scheduled for friday the release of the latest Media Technology, version 8. It claims to have reached CD quality on a 48kbps music stream and near DVD quality over a 500kbit connection. Some demos can be found here , and sure they are impressive. A 48kpbs 30 second music clip weights only 185kbytes, and it *really* sounds impressive... Sure I'm not a Microsoft fan, but this time their encoder (available for free on friday, they say), rocks heavily. We'll see... sure it's better than pure Mp3, but what about all Microsoft shit about copyrights? We all know that WMA was also created to respect the copyright owners... |
