Mitsumi Europe officially announces CD-ReWriter CR-485 FTE

CD-ReWriter CR-485 FTE

Professional Burner with Every Feature

Mitsumi Europe is bringing a new
54x/32x/54x CD-ReWriter to the market, one that will satisfy the highest
demands. The disk drive makes use of all the latest technologies, including
Aegis Write., ExacLink. and Mount Rainier. This enables it to satisfy the highest demands and
makes it particularly suitable for use in sound studios or by extremely
demanding private users. It is the alternative to the re-cently introduced
52x/24x/52x ReWriter, which was developed above all for "SOHO" environments and
price-conscious users. "We have been very successful with this strategy in the
past, offering a drive for each of the two large user groups," explains Stefanie
van der Most, the Marketing Director of Mitsumi Euro-pe.

The market for CD-Rewriters continues to be attractive to Mitsumi
because the DVD standard is still quite young, and there still has not been any
agreement about a universal DVD for-mat.

Databank Ensures Security

The Aegis Write. Technology, devel-oped and patented by Mitsumi, is a particular
highlight of this burner: with this technique, the burner uses a data-bank
implemented in the software to categorise the inserted medium. The Mit-sumi
engineers work together with all CD producers when creating this databank in
order to be able to match the optimal burner settings to each medium. Among
other things, the laser strength (WPC technology) and the burning speed are
adjusted, and a quality check is conducted during the burning process to en-sure
a safe burn. The result is exhibited '“ the optimal burning speed is always used,
and aborts due to incorrect speed settings are, thanks to this technology, as
good as impossible.

Mount Rainier '“ Standard at Mitsumi

Like all burners currently
produced by Mitsumi, the new model also completely supports the Mount Rainier
standard1. The pro-vided software InCD™ ensures that CD-RWs
can be used like a hard drive; files are simply copied, transferred, or deleted
with Windows Explorer. If it is a new CD-RW, it will even be format-ted in the
background, so that users won't have to spend time on this annoying task. When
burning a CD-RW, the drive can reach 32x speed '“ an aspect that brings decisive
advantages with it, above all for regular use of CD-RWs.

Buffer Underrun Prevention

To effectively prevent burning
interruptions, the ReWriter is equipped with a 2 Mbyte cache, and uses the
Buffer underrun prevention system ExacLink.. Mit-sumi has
been using this controller from Oak Technology for quite some time very
successfully in its products.

Software, Availability, and Price

The standard equipment provided with the drive includes Nero 5.5
by Ahead, as well as InCD by the same manufacturer. Of course, the necessary
data and audio cables are also included, as well as the screws and a Quick Start
guide. User's manuals are in PDF format are included in numerous European
languages on the accompanying Software CD-ROM. The CD-ReWriter is available from
the middle of April and costs 99.- euros, including the value added tax required
by law.
