New software to circumvent DRM restrictions

While
reading some news, I found a link to a new software called Tunebite. With this software it
is possible to remove DRM restrictions just by playback of your restricted
songs. If you have the lame_enc.dll installed, it's also possible to create
MP3 files of your songs. Since this software doesn't manipulate your original
files or tries to crack the copy protection, the usage may even be legal in most
countries.

What is
tunebite?

Tunebite is a Windows software product, which, once
installed on the PC, fully automatically or manually records the music
that is purchased online as the music will be played back. It is
completely legal to record and playback on a different reproducer of
yours. Tunebite is technology-proof, does not bypass any digital copy
protection and therefore conforms with all digital copy protection
measures, provided that the user is legally entitled to listen to the
music.

Apple Play Fair and Digital Rights Management
section
Online music platforms provide the means to purchase
or download music in different formats. Available formats are: Apple Play
Fair, Microsoft Digital Rights Management (DRM) and Sony Atrac. The
different formats aim to prevent pirate copies and abuse by limiting the
possibilities of use in multiple ways. Songs that are format-protected can
have endings like AAC, M4P, WMA, etc..

Legal limitations
Tunebite is exclusively
offered for sale to private users. Transfer to third parties and abuse are
prohibited. Purchase of a tunebite license includes the right to install
the software on a PC. The user assumes full responsibility for the use of
tunebite. RapidSolution Software AG shall not be held liable in the event
of an abuse of tunebite. Tunebite does not copy music files. Tunebite
serves the exclusive purpose of recording pieces of music played back from
other programs for private use. Any exchange, transfer or selling of these
recordings is prohibited or restricted by international copyright law. A
user of tunebite , who installs this Windows Software on his PC, records
music and makes it available to third parties or transfers it, in whatever
form and/or for whatever purpose, commits a chargeable offence and must
accept the possibility of prosecution by the aggrieved party. This
analogously applies to persons, who have received pieces of music from
other parties, which were recorded using tunebite.

Supported formats
Tunebite saves your
recordings in .ogg format. Tunebite can also record in mp3-format. For
this purpose you should have access to the lame_enc.dll file. You can
download this file from the Internet. You can find the appropriate
providers by using search engines.

System requirements
Windows XP or Windows 2000.
At least 600 MHz. At least Windows Media Player 9 for WMA recordings.
Full-duplex compatible soundcard. If the sound card can't record directly
through Wave-Out, a loopback cable will be necessary (Line-Out to
Line-In).

Tunebite offers a free test version
that is limited to 30 seconds recording time. The full version costs 9.99€ or $
12.26.
