Opti Drive Control released

Erik Deppe, the creator of famous CD & DVD quality testing applications such as Nero CD-DVD Speed and Plextor PlexTools, has launched a new application named "Opti Drive Control".

Key features of the new software include; Support for CD, DVD and BD drives/media, Read / write transfer rate, Create test disc / verify function, Detailed drive information, Detailed disc information, Disc quality tests: BLER, PI/PO, C1/C2, Jitter (*), Erase / format, Overburning, Multi-test, Enhanced save functions and CSV export of graphs.

The author describes the new software as "a test and benchmark utility for optical drives. It can be used to verify the performance, quality and reliability of the burn and read functions of optical drives and discs. Test results can be saved as a HTML report and the graphs can be exported to CSV which allows for detailed analysis with spreadsheets. With the multi-test feature all functions can be run and saved without user intervention."

The program is free for 30 days and then requires a serial number that costs $24.95 US or $19.95 EUR for a single user license.

The software is in a very early release stage, but it will be updated regularly over time. If you'd like to discuss this new software and test it out with some fellow CDFreaks, join in on the conversation in this forum thread.

It is unclear what will happen to Nero CD-DVD Speed at this point. CDFreaks members and staff have been using CD-DVD Speed for years for testing and benchmarking optical drives and media. All Nero Toolkit software (freeware) has been removed from the author's website.
