RIAA Licensing Deal Lets You Be An Online DJ...

Newsbytes reports about a new deal from RIAA with a new startup company called Kickworks. They have a deal to build a digital library of 25,000 songs for broadcast via its Internet radio network.

Consumers will be able to use copyrighted music to create their own radio station and deliver DJ-style broadcasts online, using the genre of their choice.

"You specify the genre or mix of genres and we provide you with the playlist," Kickworks CEO Matt Hackett told Newsbytes. The network will be launched by year's end with a database of 25,000 songs, with plans to offer 200,000 titles by the end of 2002, he said.

Kickworks will pay the royalties to compensate artists, and they pay this with banners on their service. Personally I don't really find this service very intresting, but perhaps you like it?
