The RWPPI, promotion group of the DVD-RW standard, has announced that it will showcase the current 16x DVD-R and 6x DVD-RW technology at CeBIT Asia. However more intrestingly the promotion group will also show case dual layer DVD-R and DVD-RW and hybrid DVD-RW technology.
Hybrid DVD-RW discs are discs that incooperate both DVD-RW and DVD-ROM attributes and include technology that assigns areas for ROM (playback only) on the inner perimeter and RW (recording/playback) on the outer perimeter on the same side of the disc. Its wide-ranging apllications include video game discs that read software programs from the ROM area and save data during and after playing in the RW area and discs for use in e-commerce that record encrypted data for protection of personal information.
