Review added; Sanyo CRD-BPDV2 4x dual-format DVD-recorder

Today we have added a new review to our review database. This time we've taken a look at the first DVD-recorder of the Japanese Sanyo company. The drive, model number CRD-BPDV2, supports 4x recording to both DVD+R and DVD-R media while CD-R media can be written at a maximum speed of 24x:

During last March's CeBIT conference held in Germany, the Japanese Sanyo company revealed their very first DVD-recorder to the public. The specifications of this DVD-recorder, model CRD-BPDV2, were already released in September of 2002 but since then there have been some speculations of what kind of speeds the CRD-BPDV2 would support. The drive was first revealed as a 4x DVD±R(W) recorder with HD-BURN (we'll get back to this technique later on in this review) writing/reading support at speeds of 36x/80x. The specifications were however later lowered to 4x DVD+R, 2.4x DVD+RW and HD-BURN write/read speeds of 24x/72x.

In this review we'll of course put the drive to our usual tests and see how it compares to the competition. Because the drive is a sample drive there was no software delivered with the drive and we can thus only review the hardware itself. This is no problem since the hardware itself is interesting enough with techniques on board such as HD-BURN.

The complete review of the Sanyo CRD-BPDV2 drive can be found here. Please react below or on the review itself when you have a comment. Otherwise you can discuss CD and DVD recorders in our Recording Hardware Forum.
