Stop global warming? Buy a DVD...

Several reports that were presented yesterday at the annual meeting of the American Chemical Society showed that there are greener ways to develop plastics, such as the material found in CDs and beverage bottles, from waste CO2. This means that carbon dioxide removed from smokestack emissions could become an important raw material for the productions of DVDs and will slow down global warming... What could do?

“Carbon dioxide is so readily available, especially from the smokestack of industries that burn coal and other fossil fuels,” Thomas E. Müller, Ph.D., said. Müller and Toshiyasu Sakakura described innovative ways of making polycarbonate plastics from CO2. These processes will create cheaper, safer and greener products, compared to the CD that you are playing now.

Finally the researchers told that we would be drinking from a carbon dioxide product and watching movies on waste-CO2 DVDs sooner than we think. So, what could you do? In a few days, months or years we will be enjoying greener and cheaper DVDs. Great!
