The new Divx has arrived!!!

Yes thats right, this day the new version of Divx (v4.0) arrived, that should replace the old Divx 3.11. It just went out of Alpha state. This new version is VERY stable.

This version plays ALL divx films and you can now encode 4 times quicker than with the old one.

Another good thing is also that it now also have a Player of it's own. So Windows Media Player Goodbye.

Here is some quick specs:

Improved decoder performance.

Higher encoding performance, almost 4 times faster than previous version.

Multipass encoding and 2 different variable bit rate modes.

Improved visual quality.

Highly scalable codec from 16x16 pixels to 1920x1280 pixels (i.e. HDTV). All even integer dimensions are acceptable.

Support for popular encoding/editing applications.

Plays all DivX content.

At the moment the Server is overloaded but the name of the files are as follows:

The player: divx4beta.exe

Codecs for encoding: divx4betacodec.exe

So go find it on a mirror.

As you might see, it's called Beta, but that is because it's a community that takes the call not a single person so Divx will never be perfect for all in the community, and i guess that there will go ALONG time before it is.

If someone finds any mirrors then please post em here.
