Well we're back to having a new drive that doesn't write at its maximum speed all the time. This drive uses Z-CLV or Zoned Constant Linear Velocity. What does this mean? The drive will write in CLV in certain areas. So say the drive is rated at like 16x-24x Z-CLV right? Where does it switch from 16x to 24x? Does it write at 16x for half the disk and then slowly go up to 24x and then stay there for the last quarter of the disk. More information about Z-CLV can be found on the CD Speed website http://www.cdspeed2000.com/go.php3?link=faq_general.html#q2
