Will plextor follow the 24x writing race?

Vinculum used our newssubmit to tell us:

Will plextor follows the 24x writing race with PX-W2410x series? CDR-info heard some rumours. This is what they say:

Today we got some information ,not official, about Plextor's next CDR-W drive. The new drive will support 24x writing, 10x re-writing and 40x reading and the most interesting is that will come with 2 years of warranty and at the same price levels of PX-W1610A! That's very good news for users since no other manufacturer has ever offered 2 years of guarantee for CDR-W drive!

We suspect that the new model codename would be "PX-W2410A" and of course will support both ATAPI and SCSI , and maybe FireWire, interfaces. Last the shipping date estimated around June of 2001 making this summer even hotter 😉

Well I think Plextor will come with a 24 speed writer. The only question is when...
