auCDtect, tests if songs are compressed, downloaded or from original

Those of you who have ever wondered if the CD you borrowed was copied from the original or was made from tracks downloaded from the internet, will now have the possibility to check this.On Hydrogen Audio we can read that auCDtect is able to determine whether a CD contains tracks that have been lossy compressed (MP3, AAC, Ogg Vorbis, WMA) or are from the original (e.g WAV). The software uses the character of the audio information that is contained within the tracks and is this way able to predict if the source was an original studio record or a reconstruction from a lossy encoded data. The current accuracy is about 95%.

More information and downloads can be found here. Discuss this in our Audio Forum.
