Lenovo ThinkPad 2 tablet is officially announced

Lenovo has been dropping hints about their new tablet for months and today they have released the specifications for this Windows 8 tablet.  It is a 10 inch form factor, with a 1366 x 768 IPS screen and is reported to have a battery good for 10 hours of use.  The new ThinkPad 2 will have a micro-HDMI port to connect to any HDMI enabled screen, two cameras, and optional 3G/4G cellular connectivity.   The ThinkPad 2 has quite a number of extra capabilities, including NFC (Near Field Communication), a fingerprint reader, and a pen which can be stored in a slot in the tablet.  A dock and keyboard can also be purchased to work with the tablet.

Looking a bit closer at the hardware, the ThinkPad 2 will be using an Intel Clover Trail dual core CPU, 2 GB RAM,  and has the ability to use 64gb of flash memory for extra storage.

Lenovo has not released any information regarding the price of the tablet, or a firm date for retail sales, saying only that it will be available in October, when Windows 8 starts shipping to retail markets.
